The Embassy of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Dhaka has announced with deep sorrow the death of former president Mujahid Liamine Zeroual on Saturday (28 March). He was 84.
Mr. Zeroual served as the sixth President of Algeria. He is remembered not only for his leadership but also for his commitment to strengthening Algeria’s international relations, including the longstanding and friendly ties between Algeria and Bangladesh.
The Algerian Embassy in Dhaka has opened a condolence book at its premises (House 06, Road 13, Baridhara Diplomatic Zone, Dhaka-1212). It is available on 31 March 2026 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and from 1 April to 2 April 2026 between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations, and distinguished guests have been visiting the Embassy to sign the condolence book and pay tribute to the late President.
The Embassy extends its deepest condolences and appreciates the solidarity expressed by the Government of Bangladesh, diplomatic missions, and all friends of Algeria during this time of mourning.
